Make your dreams come true. We design your trip, tailoring it to your wishes, using routes depending on your riding experience and wishes, using one or more of the following routes.
Route 1 – Bluemountain
One of the most spectacular views in the Icelandic wilderness. This is a Hike a bike route for sure! Mountains of every color, great glaciers views, roaring hot springs, rivers and lakes. Hike a bike up the snaking singletrack, up to the peak, entering the most spectacular view over the whole area. Enjoying a true Kodak moment before we slide down the fantastic single track, descending 300m into the strange yellow landscape leading us through rough lavafields including Icelandic technical biking. Having climbed through the lavafields we enter a singletrack along the river. At the end of the ride we soak the day away in crystal clear, moss-lined natural hot springs. This one is for the pictures and mountain view finished with fun technical riding down! not for the inexperienced riders.
Approx. ride/hike time: 3-4 hrs.
Route 2 – Baldloop
The trail goes flat on a dried riverbed then goes up steep slopes which can be seriously demanding for physical stamina and endurance. Sometimes a walk to the ice caves is possible. At the coarse peak you have a landscape of glaciers, then a fast ride to level ground to a place of interest, where the ground has shifted and the landscape offers incredibly colorful mountains. From there we bike towards the steam rising and we will bike through those before heading down again on the most fun single track of the day. A true Icelandic hike bike day for the strongest, very very fast and hard-packed scenic singletrack descending 600m through awesome lavafields ending at the hot spring where we can rest and relax before heading home. Expect steep hike bike parts early season.
Approx. ride/hike time: 4-5 hrs.
Route 3 – Ravenrock
Up through the lava, through a valley where we might have to hike a bike over some snow. You will soon be rewarded with a breathtaking view, colorful rhyolite mountains, pitch-black mountains and bright glaciers. The steep trail leads down to a green oasis on the banks of rivers on level land. Through amazing landscapes, up and down canyons. It’s like going back in time a few million years. Action packed allmountain route on hard-packed singletracks cut by colorful canyons, demanding hills ending on a fantastic scenic spot where you can enjoy the landscapes of distant glaciers and blue lakes. A fun technical but fast route down the back side of the mountain with fantastic challenges.
Approx. ride/hike time: 4-5 hrs.
Route 4 – Hutvalley
Around the canyon is a steep path down to the bridge, crossing a few rivers including Icelandic technical mountain biking, the landscape and vegetation forever changing. Birch trees are a welcome change after a desert ride. An easy ride, chilling on a single track, semi flat but flowing nice trail ending at a hut in Þórsmörk ending our ride under the volcano Eyjafjallajökull. This route can be used as a connection to the day after volcano route.
Approx. ride time: 4-5 hrs.
Route 5 – Greenhorse
This one is a nice 4 hour very tecnical AM hike bike route and offers technical riding on some unique Icelandic textures. The trail takes us up on a ridge with great scenery and strange soil and strange landscapes. If the weather permits you have a view of the whole area of the capital city Reykjavik to the West and some evening sunshine. A great route to ride as a standalone evening biking or on the way home from one of the epic highland routes.
Approx. ride/hike time: 3-4 hrs.
Route 6 – Around the corner Eldgja Volcano
Riding the local XC trails around the city on a sweet singletrack/path, a hard packed path through a lavafield area taking us to the a small volcano valley where we ride up the small volcano for some scenery and a quick stop before we head down to the first man-made small but fun, downhill track we made in Iceland. From there we ride in to the Icelandic “forest” on a man-made single track all the way down to the city. A nice ride in the local mountain park of the capital city.
Approx. ride time: 4 hrs.
