Day#1   (see “Tour Plan tab for details”)

Trip starts at BSÍ bus station (or other central location by request)  at  09:00.  We head to our Trailcenter, a 40 minute drive through moss covered lava.  Best to either arrive dressed ready to bike or keep your biking clothes easily accessible in your luggage.

Location/Facilities:

More about Hveragerði town here.    The hotel: The Greenhouse hotel opened in late 2021. The Greenhouse focuses on sustainable and eco-friendly choices, with emphasis on reusable, upcycled and recycled materials. Designed by local designer Halfdan Pedersen.  On the ground floor you’ll find a food hall with focus on local, fresh ingredients.

Food: All food included, first evening you’ll set the time of dinner, casual eatery in a newly opened food hall in the hotel. We recommend fish of the day at “Hipstur” if you want to sample some fresh, quality eating.  – For those looking fore something casual there is tacos, burgers etc.   On the second night we head to our favourite pizzeria next door and pair it with their local brews. Sharing stories, photos, pizza & brews  in the company of fellow mtb riders is a great recipe for an evening.

You can do a lot in three days in Iceland! In summer: Days are long, almost 24hrs of daylight and we recommend using the bright nights well. Find information on what to wear and have a look at Icebike Adventures picture gallery from our trips. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy some of your biking videos from Iceland. Last but not least, get some practical information on your trips and what to expect when riding in Iceland.

Day One

- Geothermal Wonders of Reykjadalur

Day starts in Reykjavík - we shuttle 40 minutes to Icebike Trail Center in the village of Hveragerði.  Get bikes, meet the guides and head out! We start the trip conquering a mix of man-made and natural single tracks through stunning valleys where steam rises from the earth and mud boils with excitement. Our famous Steamer trail combo is the choice of the day, offering the ultimate ride. After, we'll navigate our brand-new "Fox Flow" trail, ensuring a heart-pounding journey around the Hveragerði village mountains. As the day draws to an end, you're welcome to do a self guided optional adventure to the famous "hot river", the perfect unwinding after an adventure packed day
Day Two

Tectonic Challenge

To get our blood pumping, we will challenge ourselves by climbing to Ölkelduhálsi, a multicoloured oasis overlooking Lake Thingvallavatn and national park.  We'll pass mountain lakes, smoking hot lagoons and iron stained valleys before following the rider bank canyon down to Hotel ION for some well deserved lunch. Our afternoon is all about exploring tectonically scarred landscape, morphed by the growth of Iceland. We will traverse fast natural singletracks descending the ridge lines before ending the day with a well earned beer.
Day Three

Volcano Valley

First, we hitch a ride to the  base of Hengill volcano and work our way into "Volcano Valley", before climbing to a viewpoint called Sleggjubein Pass, giving us epic views over surrounding lava fields and volcanic craters. In the afternoon we'll make our way through lush green valleys, thriving from nutrient rich volcanic soil. After following the rivers and lava fields east, we'll tackle the technical trails of Grensdalur ridge followed by a more flowy man made trail. We'll wrap up our trip, heading back to Reykjavík exhilarated yet satisfied from our tectonic adventure.
