We fly over the colorful roofs of Reykjavík before heading towards the geothermal region passing mossy lavafields on our way to the top. We touch down on the Hengill volcano peak for a nice start of awesome 5km descent, now we have to earn our turns, far away from population we ride an ever-changing volcanic singletrack passing rivers valleys and do some sandstone ridgeline riding, pausing only to take in the majesty of this remarkable area. As the day wears on we work our way up to the tectonic lava trail for a final technical fast and flowy traverse down to the geothermal area of Nesjavellir.
