Fatbike adventure day trip:

This trip is great for anyone happy to embrace the elements and get rewarded with great fun and great views. Our superjeep brings us to the volcanic fields of the Reykjanes Peninsula. An area once used for lunar astronaut training. Located near Heiðmörk nature reserve, locals favourite area for outdoor activities. The fatbikes are the ideal equipment for this trip. Cycle volcanic rocks, black sand or on snow fields. This trip is about embracing the elements as we ride through rugged landscapes.

Winter fatbiking in Iceland is weather dependant. We head to the areas with best weather and trail conditions. We ride on snow when possible. It is important to dress according to weather on the day. Our guides tailor the trip to riders abilities. All active people are capable of riding this trip. A great way to get outside and use a fatbike as a great fun adventure tool. Small groups of 2-6 riders,  contact us here for bigger groups.

You can do a lot in one day in Iceland! In summer: Days are long, almost 24hrs of daylight and we recommend using the bright nights well. Find information on what to wear and have a look at Icebike Adventures picture gallery from our trips. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy some of your biking videos from Iceland. Last but not least, get some practical information on your trips and what to expect when riding in Iceland.

``Overall, this was one of our favorite excursions while in Iceland. Partly because our guides were such authentic people who love sharing the beauty of their country.``

My Icebike Adventure couldn't have been better. First rate equipment, first rate service, super friendly staff. We got mini geology and nature demos, explored caves, hiked a volcano rim. And that's not to mention the ride, we rode up a volcano, dropped in off the rim and rode out the bottom. Totally worth it.

Lovin’ the Lava Fields What an incredible experience. This company is fabulous to work with and we would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in exploring the natural beauty of Iceland by bike. They will figure out how to make an awesome adventure for you no matter what your fitness level. We are in our 40s and are lovers of all things outdoors. We are recreational mountain bikers and I only have minimal approaching moderate technical mountain-biking skills on our home typical terrain of rooty wooded areas with limited rocks. We are use to cold weather temps (zero degrees), so the chilly air wasn’t much of a concern to us.Our guide, Thordis, did a great job of showing us the beauty of Iceland...the lava rocks were a welcomed change from roots back home, but presented their own challenges as at times you can hit patches that are more gravel-like than rock or deeply grooved areas.Overall, this was one of our favorite excursions while in Iceland. Partly because our guides were such authentic people who love sharing the beauty of their country. It is well worth the time and money to enjoy such a heart-racing adventure. One note, be honest when asked about in your technical ability and fitness level. We all go through periods of time where our fitness level takes a dive or the terrain type is beyond our expertise. If you aren’t honest, you will be placed in a group where you are lagging behind or struggling to manage the terrain. This company will customize rides for all levels of experience and skill, but they need to know where we are today before we arrive on site. Our group had one such individual who simply wasn’t prepared, by the end, we had nicknamed her Princess. At one point, she was actually crying as she was simply miserable. Our guide worked really hard on helping her have a successful adventure, while at the same time not ruining the trip for everyone else. All I can say is if you are solely in it for the instagram photo op, then be honest with the company and they will create an adventure that suits you and allows you the photo ops you want. Seriously, they have multiple fitness level selections from “I’m a couch potato” through “I hope the guide can keep up”, which I still find hilariously funny.Last word of advice...appropriate gear makes the adventure even more enjoyable. Princess was wearing thin cotton socks, so her feet were frozen by the end and isotoner-type gloves, so her fingers were numb. Just make sure you bring your favorite layers to stay warm and protect against the wind. We are both big fans of smartwool as a base layer, then a Patagonia R series hoodie, and topped-off with a REI Gortex wind/water shell. We wore our smartwool hats under our helmets as well. Wool is your friend in these types of temperatures, including socks. We were comfortable and protected from the Icelandic winds.Overall, if you are on the fence about booking this adventure, jump off the fence and onto the great bikes you will get to ride. I included a picture of the fork as it was really cool and functional for the terrain. This adventure is totally worth it!

I have had the great pleasure of doing two rides with Icebike Adventures. My wife and I did the Mt.Biking Edge Trail in May 2017, and then a buddy and I did the Fatbike Lava Trails ride last March. Both of these rides were AWESOME!!! Our guides Runar, Mt.Biking, and Magne ( ICEBIKES Owner ) for Fat Biking, were exceptional. Not only are they very skilled riders, they are incredibly knowledgeable about the terrain, the bikes and Iceland. Plus, they are really great people. Their bikes are very high end and very well maintained. They deserve 10 stars, not just 5 stars. They also have the coolest trucks on the Planet.
