What to do in Iceland
What is a must-do when travelling to Iceland?
Well, we are biased, so biking is at the top of our list: gravel, mountain biking, or casual family ride!
Icebike runs two Trailcenters, “Lundur” close to Reykjavík and “Reykjadalur” close to Hveragerði. Both are an hour's drive from Keflavik International Airport.
If you have a rental car and at least a week or two to spend, we absolutely recommend driving around Iceland and stopping for these great biking locations, going clockwise from Reykjavík:
Drive up to the Westfjords for gravel or mountain biking with the fantastic Tyler at the Fjordhub.is. Head over to Húsavík for MTB runs, then it is off to the Eastfjords to https://www.fjordbikes.com/. Topping the Iceland circle up at our friends at the icelandbikefarm.is.
All of the above are small, family-owned and operated companies that respect Iceland's nature and put their efforts into creating a bright future for biking in Iceland.
Ideas for a great day in Reykjavík:
A recipe for a day off in Reykjavík is also the perfect post-ride routine with Icebike: Start at the local swimming pools (swimming.is) for a soak and a swim. Or try any of the geothermal spas, skylagoon.is or bluelagoon.is. Afterwards, grab a hot dog. For dessert, head to valdis.is in the city centre for what we think is the best ice cream in Iceland. Wander the streets of central Reykjavík and find a café for a good cup of coffee. Icelanders take their coffee seriously.
From there, work your way through a microbrewery or two to sample some local brews, then finish the day at a seafood restaurant in the centre. We always go for the catch of the day.
If you have a full day: Museums in Reykjavík; art museums, whale museum, even Flyover Iceland on a rainy day if you want to see aerial views of what you can ride on Icebike trips. You can even spot the founder and guides getting their 3 seconds of fame. There are great whale watching companies that run trips out of the harbour.

The Midnight Sun
If you are visiting in June or July, do not waste it indoors. Walk, hike, bike, golf, whatever you enjoy, and do it under full sunlight at midnight. There is nothing quite like it.
