Heli-biking the Tectonic Plates in a full all-mountain traverse built for a variety of skill levels. You start off with a scenic helicopter flight from Reykjavik over mossy lava fields and steaming geothermal terrain and touch down on the peak of Hengill volcano. From there, you ride down and up iconic Icelandic volcanic areas and landscapes. Sandstone ridgeline riding and fast-flowing single-tracks through terrain shaped by the very forces that built Iceland. An unforgettable single-day tour.

1. Hotel pick up + transfer to helipad
Arrive at Norðurflug heli service at Reykjavik domestic airport in the city center.
Meet your guide.
Quick safety briefing, discuss the route choice for the day and check gear before boarding.
2. Helicopter flight (approx. 20 min)
Scenic flight over mossy lava fields and steaming geothermal vents.
Touch down on the peak of Hengill volcano.
Transition straight from the helicopter onto the bikes.
3. Descent + volcanic single-track
Drop into a 5 km descent from the summit.
Ride volcanic single-track through river valleys and across sandstone ridgelines.
Terrain is remote and technical - expect steep sections, loose ground and zero signs of civilisation.
Your guide sets the pace and picks the lines
Pauses for photos and regrouping when the landscape demands it.
4. Tectonic lava trail + final traverse
Work your way up to the tectonic lava trail.
Final section: a technical, fast and flowy descent down to the geothermal area of Nesjavellir.
Steam rising from the earth, and the Nesjavellir power plant is visible as you finish the ride.
5. Pick-up + return
Support vehicle meets you at Nesjavellir.
Transfer back to your hotel in Reykjavík.
Total riding time: 5 to 6 hours.

Skill level: As a private trip, it can be tailored to a range of skill levels. This is an all-mountain traverse with technical descents and challenging hike-a-bike sections. 5 to 6 hours door to door.
