Local’s favourite xc technical singletrack. Full suspension mountainbikes are a great tool for this trip. The trip starts with a 20 minute drive from Icebike Base towards the mountains. Near a local ski resort we get our bikes ready and find our way to the trail start. Although this is one of the most popular MTB trails in Iceland it is unmarked and it is rare to see other riders on the trail. The Edge trail runs from the foot of “Blue”mountains along a 5000 year old lava field, right back to Reykjavík. A variety of technical singletrack at the beginning and flowy trail at the end. The track is narrow, sometimes deep and technical. This makes this ride very little fun for beginners but a great choice for intermediate to advanced riders looking for a fun day out biking.
You start riding in moonscapes ride by lavafields wih views of Reykjavík in the far distance. By the end of the trail you have reached a local nature reserve with green lushy birch and pine woods.
You can do a lot in one day in Iceland! In summer: Days are long, almost 24hrs of daylight and we recommend using the bright nights well. Find information on what to wear and have a look at Icebike Adventures picture gallery from our trips. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy some of your biking videos from Iceland. Last but not least, get some practical information on your trips and what to expect when riding in Iceland.
