Cross country MTB day tour:

Local’s favourite xc technical singletrack. Full suspension mountainbikes are a great tool for this trip. The trip starts with a 20 minute drive from Icebike Base towards the mountains.  Near a local ski resort we get our bikes ready and find our way to the trail start. Although this is one of the most popular MTB trails in Iceland it is unmarked and it is rare to see other riders on the trail. The Edge trail runs from the foot of “Blue”mountains along a 5000 year old lava field, right back to Reykjavík. A variety of technical singletrack at the beginning and flowy trail at the end.  The track is narrow, sometimes deep and technical. This makes this ride very little fun for beginners but a great choice for intermediate to advanced riders looking for a fun day out biking.

The views:

You start riding in moonscapes ride by lavafields wih views of Reykjavík in the far distance. By the end of the trail you have reached a local nature reserve with green lushy birch and pine woods.

You can do a lot in one day in Iceland! In summer: Days are long, almost 24hrs of daylight and we recommend using the bright nights well. Find information on what to wear and have a look at Icebike Adventures picture gallery from our trips. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy some of your biking videos from Iceland. Last but not least, get some practical information on your trips and what to expect when riding in Iceland.

“The landscape was rugged and the weather was wild, and we went away feeling like Iceland truly is a unique place – a place that highlights and harnesses the power and beauty of the land we live on. And that bikes really do make exploring new places even better”

Punctual pickup from our guesthouse in town. Myself and 5 other guys ventured for the day on some incredible trails with spectacular views. Magne was the coolest! Some in our group were more experienced than others and he made it a great day for everyone. The ride was technical enough to challenge you...at the same time moderate enough for all of us to have a good time. Top of the line equipment as well. HIGHLY recommend making this part of your experience in Iceland!!

Fantastic way to experience Iceland, Great guide and bikes. We did this on the first day of our Iceland Road Trip and I wish the entire trip could have been on a bike. It was a magical way to experience the dramatic and challenging Iceland landscapes The weather was far then ideal on the day of our ride, but Magne adjusted the itinerary so that we could still get out and ride. Everything about this experience was great, from the jeep ride to the finish line Viking beer. Would definitely do it again.

Amazing trails with amazing service I highly recommend Icebike Adventures! They tailored a day on the trails to meet my and my wife's needs and abilities. The Edge Trail was amazing, and the Icebike team delivered door to trail service. The bikes were perfectly suited for the trail conditions, and the guide, who was also a co-owner of the company, was knowledgeable, friendly and highly skilled. They offer mountain bike expeditions for any skill level, and are by far worth every penny! You won't be disappointed. I'm already planning my next trip with some friends to do some helibiking.

Magne is awesome! Great guide and really made this a unique trip for our group of 6 friends. Three of us are avid MTB riders and the other 3 don't MTB too often. Magne kept the pace perfect and we got to see a variety of trails that tested all of our skills. We traveled about 25KM over some incredible terrain. Surrounded by snow capped mountains this truly was a unique experience! The last stretch of trail was perfect fast and flowing ...the perfect way to end the ride! We never felt rushed with Magne and he offered to allow us to ride as long as we wanted. Great day and well worth the price!

5 stars aren't enough: Just got back from a week in Iceland, and my only regret is that we didn't do a multi-day trip with Icebike. We did "The Edge" day tour, and I can't say enough good things about the trails, the experience, and how awesome Magne and Asta were about getting us out there. So great. We will definitely go back.
