Ride high mountain passes and single track sheep trails. Criss cross the steep slopes of the glacier carved peaks, leading from summit to sea shore. Our base camp for this great adventure is Raven Hill Lodge. A former sheep farm transformed into a heli ski lodge in winter, and a multi adventure base in summer. Raven Hill or Klængshóll as it goes in Icelandic is deep in the mountains of the Troll peninsula. It provides the perfect base for our forays into the surrounding mountains. The Troll Peninsula is home to Akureyri bike park. It is Iceland’s longest organised mountain bike trail network. We will spend a full day enjoying the pleasures of the downhill kind in Akureyri.

Climb high and ride low
Ones again we will climb high and ride low, ending on the rugged coast of one of the deep fjords that cut into the mountains if the Troll’s. We will ride though one of the small fishing villages nestled along the coast where we will get a good insight into the life of the locals. We return to Raven hill in the late afternoon and rest our weary bones.
We bid our farewell and head towards the regional capital Akureyri where the great joys of the Akureyri trail network await. With its number of km and predominantly downhill riding we will rack up some impressive vertical on our last day of riding.

More about this tour
The mountains of the Troll’s are Iceland’s highest outside of the central highland Icecap area, and certainly the most rugged, jutting far north into the Arctic Ocean. The mountains of the Troll’s are an unexplored riders paradise.
